The Brest Bible, National Archives in Opole

Description

A box for the Brest Bible from 1563, which was discovered during roof renovations. The condition of the leather binding did not allow the book to be safely closed. It was therefore necessary to create a box that would enable to store the Bible open until it could be conserved. It was essential to maintain an appropriate opening angle of the front cover to avoid placing harmful stress on the spine. The block of the book was secured with a Melinex band.
