Box with a two-part opened front wall and a wrapping tie

Boxes with an opened front wall facilitate taking out documents without the need to take the box off the shelf. 

The front wall of variety c of this construction is divided into an upper part and a lower part. One or both of these parts open along very durable cloth hinges, while the wrapping tie (one or two) provides good protection of the contents against accidental opening of the box. 

There are interesting sub-varieties of this storage product - ones with partitions (vertical or horizontal ones) or with drawers. They are costly solutions, but they might turn out to be more attractive, in terms of price, than the purchase of new archival furniture.
